King and Truffles Journal:
A Healing Journey on the Lavender Sage Diet
07/06/09
I started changing the diet for Truffles and King today. I did not yet have the Performance herbal blend from Lisa, however I started to give them some veggies from my garden and some fruit. I was able to contact Lisa by phone, sent her some photos, and she came up with a plan for them.
08/07/09
I started implementing the fruits and veggies that Lisa recommended into their diets right away, but did not start the herbal blend until August 3rd. After just 4 days on the herbal blend added, I noted a difference in both King and Truffles.
Their eyes were brighter, they had more spunk, and you could see that they were both starting to put on weight. Since they were not eating all of their “salad”, I decided to start chopping it all up in my food processor. Truffles has some teeth that need floated, however our equine dentist is not available for another 6 months. So now they both get their “pony hummers”, and they seem to enjoy every morsel.

Truffles just kind of picked at her hummers for the past two days, so I decided tonight to just cut up the veggies and fruits, making them more like a salad, and woohoo, they ate them all. I think they are both feeling good enough now to chomp down the chunks. I think that is a step in the right direction. They both cleaned their dishes well tonight. I love graduating J I am thinking this means their teeth are stronger, they are stronger too!

Truffles mane is starting to come out in handfuls, I think that means she is detoxing. Kings eyes and face are so different now, its like I am finally seeing the true King come out. He is actually standing up for himself and “fighting” for food, which he has not done the entire time I have had him. Truffles is more perky, her eyes are clearer as well. Truff has a little bit of a bloated stomach, I talked to Lisa and that is all part of the detox process. We will be doing a liver cleanse sometime in the near future, I am anxious to see how that goes.

Truffles and King are steadily improving. Both are filling out in their bellies. There stomach and chest areas look…deeper. They are definitely holding their own, one thing I have noticed is that now they don’t seem to be as itchy. I think the herbs have kicked in and are taking care of whatever parasites they might have had. I have also noted that King’s hooves are doing better, he doesn’t stand like he is in pain all the time like he used to do.

I am in the process of looking for beets so we can start the liver cleanse. I am out of town for a wedding, so Chase will be responsible fore feeding King and Truffles their veggies. Both are showing still more improvement every day. Both are very eager to eat their veggies now, which is great. King sometimes will finish off what Truff doesn’t finish. She seems to like them, but just doesn’t eat all of hers every time. King stands at the door, with his head over it, drooling, waiting for her to be done so he can have her leftovers. King’s coat now has a much softer texture, his face…just seems to glow, I think he is really really responding well. He has better movement as well.

We will start the liver cleanse tomorrow, I am so excited to see how they respond. I am wondering if they will eat/drink the cleansing herbal tea. I’ve noticed that Truffles is much more outgoing now, instead of just hanging around by herself in the barn, she spends much more time with the herd. I also got some different types of squash to try with them, and a pumpkin.
09/11/09
We started the liver cleanse today, and I also got another big surprise. Truffles ate ALLLL of her food today, and the hunks are getting bigger and bigger, her bowl was just loaded with veggies. Wow, did she ever surprise me. She licked every bit of the yarrow tea out of her bowl. I think she knows that she needs it. Yay Truffles!!
09/13/09
Truffle continues to eat every single morsel of her food, and today after she was done, I put her back in the pasture, and she was rearing up, and just had all sorts of energy. I haven’t seen her play in quite some time. I think Lisa must have done a treatment on her. I will be taking photos of her and King tomorrow, I can’t wait to see what differences there will be. King is also getting to be more of a “herd” member, and in fact he is chasing the others away, which is amazing, he would never ever stand up for himself, he is actually biting the others when they reach their heads over the stall door to try to get his goodies. Both King and Truffles got some acorn squash, and some pumpkin, they ate it all, even the seeds. Truffles really seems to like the yarrow tea, they both hardly even take a break now when eating. I love hearing them crunch on the big chunks, knowing that their teeth are getting stronger every day, as are they.

Today was the last day with the tea, both came running as soon as I went out and called them. They are both definitely more spunky, when I brought Truffles out to do her photos she was just trotting along with me. Truffles has a lot of what looks like dandruff, her coat isn’t as nice as Kings is yet. Today her tummy looked a little bloated to me as well. She cleaned up all of her veggies happily, I am excited watching the progression. I checked in her mouth and her teeth are definitely changing, the parts that needed floated are in a totally different angle now, and it looks like the parts that are too long are going to break off naturally with what she eats.
09/16/09
While Truffles was eating her goodies today, I decided to trim her hooves. I cleaned them first, and noticed that she pulled away as I got closer to her frogs on all of her hooves. Very carefully, I used the brush to clean them the rest of the way out, and noted that in every single hoof was this yellow pus like substance. So tonight I messaged Lisa, and she reassured me that it is the fungus clearing out!!! Yay!! Its about time for that nasty stuff to pack its bags and move out of her sweet little body. As a side note, oh my goodness were her hooves hard!!!! Tough as nails those suckers are becoming, they trimmed up very nicely. I can see the raw eggs are doing their job!!!
09/18/09
Today the sharp edges chipped off on their own. Lisa was right, her program helps the horses float their own teeth naturally!!!
09/22/09
Today after King was done eating, and I was rubbing him, it hit me! I had to put decent pressure on him in order to feel his ribs!!!!!! What an amazing transformation. This is a first for quite some time, I feel like doing the happy dance for this beautiful sweet boy.
